Twenty years after the first Balaton Conference, the Hungarian Society for Separation Sciences (HSSS) is happy to announce that the well-established series of Balaton Symposia is continuing. Following the traditions of the series, the 10th Balaton Symposium on High-Performance Separation Methods is going to be held on September 2-4, 2015 in the Hotel Azúr in Siófok, Hungary.

The series of Balaton Symposia has grown to one of the major events of separation science in Central Europe. Biannually, the Balaton Symposium brings together separation scientists and friends from all over the world.

The aim of the 10th Balaton Symposium is to bring together experts, decision makers, users, and scientists of high-performance separation methods to discuss the latest issues, current requirements, and technological challenges we face in the present and future.

The community of separation scientists has been saddened by the news that Professor Georges Guiochon passed away on October 21, 2014. Professor Guiochon was one of the few giants of separation science. He made significant impact on every aspect of chromatography. He had rather strong connections with Hungary. As the secretary of the Science Exchange Agreement he supported the scientific contact between separation scientists divided by the Iron Curtain. That opportunity had a tremendous impact on the career of numerous Hungarian separation scientists. He was always a plenary speaker of the Balaton Symposia. In 1999 he received the Halász Medal Award of the Hungarian Society for Separation Sciences at the Balaton Symposium in Siófok.
Sadly, we dedicate the 10th Balaton Symposium to the memory of Professor Georges Guiochon.

We are looking forward to meeting you in Siófok at the 10th Balaton Symposium on High-Performance Separation Methods.
